Why not say a prayer for the President and ALL our elected leaders? For those of you who believe, it's scriptural to do so.

Why Pray? God is suppossed to have a divine plan. what if your prayers aren't in his "Plan"? Should he change his plan for your simple prayer.

Perhaps God's plan includes granting prayer requests

If you don't believe, then why are you here in a "prayer request" thread?

To put in my 2 cents, just like you. What is the ratio of answered and unanswered prayer? And if there is a thing such as unanswered prayer, isn't rude of God not to at least tell you no rather than just not bother answering. Maybe he just doesn't give a ****?

Escapeman, perhaps if you look at it this way:
I know you've been taught/told that God has a plan, and his plan never varies. If that was the case, then I would agree with you, "what's the use?"
Some call that predestination. I don't agree with that. I do believe, however, that God (the name we humans have come up with to describe what we cannot see) has a plan, but mankind has a choice. It's just like we parents with our kids. We have a plan for how we would like them to turn out. As they grow, however, they develop minds of their own and do things we never wanted them to do.
Remember the "Garden of Eden" story? God wanted Adam and Eve to live forever there, in perfect harmony with all his creation. All he asked was that they not eat of a the fruit of a certain tree. What did they do? They disobeyed him and had to pay the price. Whether the story is true, inerrant, or just suggestive is immaterial. The lesson is what we need to focus on.
So man screwed things up. Then God decided to take one of the nations that descended from his first creation and make them "his" people. He thought he'd try again. What happened? The same thing. They disobeyed and did what they wanted anyway.
God had another plan. He sent his son to talk with them. Did they listen? Well, some did, but the majority didn't, and many still don't.
I used to think of Christianity as a religion. Not any more. I've found out it's a way of life.
