I bought the best thing ever for my dog.  I got the Invisible Fence for my very spastic, fresh dog that would run the neighborhood & laugh at me when I would try to catch her. Tiger has probably seen us chasing her, like fools.  It worked on day 1! Best $280 spent, ever!

I bought the Cabela's GS-1000 Gun Dog Containment System several years ago for $109. Containment fences are awesome, and way better than putting your dog outside on a chain.  The only drawback is that the dog can poop anywhere within the fence borders, which means you have to play hunt and seek for doggie doo or risk having a stinky foot.

lol!  Ava likes to poop in the same vicinity, thank God!  But, I didn't have to dig up my yard or anything...it was worth it

Yes, digging up the yard is quite a task. We used a powered lawn edger to make the groove for the wire, which worked out pretty well. Finding a broken wire can be a big chore too. The dog seems to love it though.

this thing is electronic.  I've got the machine thingy plugged in, inside.  It can give you up to a 180 feet radius.  Then she has the collar, that if she goes too far... zap!  I've been zapped.. I didn't like it lol.  The dog only got zapped twice, then she paid attention to the warning beep!  My neighbos not longer hate me!

It may work fine for you, but you should know its not always a 100% solution. Key is training, the dog needs to be trained to the boundary. ( you can also boundary train a dog without the shock, but it takes more time)

Also, a very determined ( or very stupid) dog may not care and go right through it anyway.

She did try to go thru it, twice..and did not like it.

I got it mostly because I am not home to train her.  We got her to be a companion for my 80yr dad who is here alone all day.  He doesn't have the strength to train her.  She, is real good in the house, but would book it once we took her outside & pulled too hard on the leash.

She hasn't gotten zapped since & has stayed well in the boundaries.  We eventually will remove it, but it is a God send.
