I think I might go with, what is it, the 4th? amendment. They're actually seizing your property, at least that part of it where the GPS is placed, without due process. But you'll have to find someone willing pursue the case. In fact, the more I consider it, the more
prima facie
it feels.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

I can agree that some of this may be an invasion of RIGHTS I disagree that is a loss of freedom.
To consider it a loss of freedom one has to say that we have a freedom to do illegal acts and therefore it is a loss of freedom.

I feel it is a loss of freedom because they can come on my private property to install a legal device. The first just feels like it is wrong without a warrant. I mean they have to wait until you put you trash out to the curb don't they? They can't go on your property to go through your trash. So how can they come on my property to install any form of device?

For many years one did not have to step on ones property to listen to phone conversations. Now one only needs a device that can pick up the radio signal of the cordless phone. Do the police need a warrent to listen to a cordless phone conversation? I do not know. I do know the thief does not.
Again, to me, what is in question is do you have the right to break the law and get away with it if the police make a mistake in how evidence is obtained or in how they handle it.
That, to me, is not a question of freedom, but only of burden of proof for the thief's misuse of freedom.
It is illegal for any level of government to specifically target conversations knowingly involving US Citizens without a warrant from the FISA court, it's been that way for over 30 years that I am aware of. I was being a little obnoxious with the Patriot Act statement but only because it was a such a sticking point to hold against the Republicans for many years and I feel that those who used it were less concerned with any violation and more concerned with political advancement. I respect holding an official or office accountable for not using proper methods to identify a crime, but it does not make the crime any less real. Conversely, if a crime was not committed and an effort to avoid punishment was not made there is no justification to clandestinely attach tracking devices to a citizens vehicle.

Just to clarify, I do have some problems with what is happening.
But, really, am I violating your freedom if I am on your property? What if your car is on the street? As yoyo said it is all about where one draws the line.
If you are operating an illegal operation (say child prostitution) I would support a pretty broad interpretation.

Somebody's Watching Me - Rockwell
I'm just an average man with an average life
I work from 9 to 5, hey hell, I pay the price
All I want is to be left alone, in my average home
But why do I always feel
Like I'm in the Twilight Zone? and...
I always feel like somebody's watching me
And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Tell me, is it just a dream
When I come home at night
I bang the door real tight
People call me on the phone I'm trying to avoid
Or can the people on TV see me, or am I just paranoid?
When I'm in the shower, I'm afraid to wash my hair
Cause I might open my eyes and find someone standing there!
People say I'm crazy, just a little touch
But maybe showers remind me of "Psycho" too much
That's why...
I always feel like somebody's watching me
And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Who's playing tricks on me?
Who's watching me
I don't know anymore!
Are the neighbours watching me?
Who's watching
Well is the mailman watching me?
Tell me who's watching
And I don't feel safe anymore, oh what a mess
I wonder who's watching me now
Who?
The IRS?!
I always feel like somebody's watching me
And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Tell me is it just a dream
I always feel like somebody's watching me
And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Who's playing tricks on me?
Who's watching me?
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Oooh, whoa-oa-oa
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Tell me, can it be?
Who's watching me?
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Whoa-oa-oa
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Who's playing tricks on me?
Who's watching me?
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Can I have my privacy
I always feel like somebody's watching me
Who's playing tricks on me?
