We have been steered toward hating a philosophy of a party and not the actions of a few.  If a person performs a negative action the first thing anyone does is tries to tie them to a party.  Then the partisan debate overcomes holding them accountable.  Remember that most politicians are lawyers and are well skilled in focusing the attention away from the actual crime when that is beneficial.

One of the keys to the KKK was (is) their anonyminity, I don't know of any clandestine effort to stop the mosque.
The opposition is above board and open as to their motiuves-- can't say the same for the backers.

Well let us look at the history of the domestic terrorist in this nation and see if how they lean can decide as to whether or not they will be violent. 

William Ayers, founded an org that bombed the pentagon, a NYC police station and they robbed a brinks truck.
BPP, leaned toward violence and they as well leaned left.
NBPP, follows about the same as their sister group above.
O'leary, well I dont' know which way he leaned but he was nuts for sure.
What others are there?

In more recent history of just the past few years
NBPP, has promised violence on the white man.
The SEIU people that attacked a black prest and bit his finger off they lean left.
