The idea being that Obama inherited a nightmare. We Americans just don't get it, the g-spot, the nerve center, is congress. Congress is the power that be, a President is one man who takes office for a few short years and tries to keep the ship on course, congress might run for election every two years, but they seldom lose, so change in congress doesn't happen at all. Congress has too much power over states and too much power in general. They make laws without even reading them-wtf. The Congress should bear the brunt of the blame and even hatred by the people. They have not served us well, and they have not enjoyed any esteem at all in the world. YET, people still vote in the same ol same ol at every election. Then blame the President who only has 4 years to make a idfference. In America Obama takes undeserved heat for taking desperate measures to keep us afloat, and congress always gets a freee pass. Christians are trying to ignite a religious war, muslims already feel under attack. Our economy is under tremendous strain, something has to give. china and Russia are not fighting wars on two fronts, and they don't try to police the world, nor do they try to impose their will on countries anymore. they aren't christian or muslim, they don't have a dog inthe fight.
WW3 is gonna be about religion because christians are pushing for a religious war because they want to create an atmosphere where Jesus will come out of the clouds and save them from "whoever"- probably themselves.
In an economic collapse, the poorest will feel it the hardest because they try to live day to day and paycheck to paycheck. Race, looting, crime, guns, religion, and all the travails that go with war on your doorstep, will shock you.

You know, the official story about 9/11 just doesn't fit or ring true.
America lost 3,000 that day, since that day, many times that number of muslims have died, some horribly.
At most, some Americans have felt discomfort since 9/11. But our troops and all muslims in the middle east- millions- have suffered trama and loss. to say nothing of the economic loss, debt and bad/PR america suffered.

He inherited a war on two fronts, an economy in free fall, massive- and i mean massive- unemployment, illegal immigration  and managed a eco disaster oil spill.

Obama has dealt with all the problems he has had to deal with, plus he got all the combat troops out of iraq- i understand that to be the case- and we aren't losing over a half a million jobs a month anymore. You don't fix problems that were years and decades in the making overnight. A POTUS deals with issues 24/7 that you nor I even stop to consider. The health care bill has more nuances and complex details than could ever fairly be debated in any forum or public discourse. He said he hated the bank bail-out, and said "it stunk", but it was necessary. I'd give Obama a B+ so far.
Dealing with russia milssile problems, china trade and spying problems, iran, north korea, afghanistan, israeli / palestinian problems, border problems in America, oil leaks in the golf, a deep recession, race and religion issues and pushing througha health care bill that was obviously more important then you nor i can understand. Obama hasn't had to deal with issues 2008- 2012 which is his term , he has had to deal with past presidents failures and congressional failures. He has led well. Not perfect because you can't please everyone, but he has led well, and done it with poise. We have major issues ahead, social security bankruptcy, global financial meltdown seems certain, returning vets who are going to require a lot of care and suppport, a religious war seems to be destined with all the religious intolerance in the face of the right to freedom of religion, the recession will deepen and jobless benefits will expire for millions. THE BIG PROBLEM that isn't getting any press or INTELLIGENT DEBATE is the pending race/religion war that seems to be brewing. The far right is always and i mean always pushing the idea that Islam is satanic and a religion of hate.

Respect must be earned, it is not given because of a title.  One of the many reasons we don't reside under British rule anymore.

The phrase "respect must be earned" is possibly one of the most unfortunate phrases ever coined in the English language. It implies that respect is something to be withheld from our fellow humans until they can prove themselves worthy of reverence. It implies that we do not have to do the work necessary to interact with others in a respectful manner. It puts the burden on the other person to prove themselves instead of first holding ourselves responsible for our own words and deeds. It implies that it is an acceptable thing to be less than civil to others BEFORE they have even had the chance to act in a manner that warrants either respect or disrespect.

Many of the greatest people in history were those who gave respect to others and interacted with others in a respectful manner, even under poor circumstances. Respect is a foundation of leadership. Giving respect does not mean that a person must sacrifice their own principals. It does not mean that a person forfeits their own power or self worth. Those who give respect willingly are those who recognize that their treatment of others is not  an act of submission, but a reflection of their own personal strength.

Our very government is founded on unconditional respect for its citizens. The Declaration of Independance  contains the famous phrase "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain acquiescence Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is the ultimate declaration of respect.

Respect is something that is sadly missing in quantity in our society. People no longer openly show respect to others out of fear that it will be misconstrued as weakness or acquiescence. It is none of those things. You can show respect for another even if you don't like them, you can respect another even if you don't agree with them. In doing so, you are showing that you hold regard for their right to hold their own beliefs, actions, and opinions, and in doing so, you are also securing your own.

Well when you are created you are as equal as everyone else, you got just a good a shot at being somebody as everyone else around you.

That is when the equal ends you know at creation, some people are smarter than others they get further in life. 
Some people are happy to just live a simple life then to join the rat race.
For someone to have my respect they must show themselves to be a good human for one.  Obama hasn't shown that he doesn't listen to what the people are telling him.  He surrounds himself with like minded folks and then shuts the door, is that how you live your life?  It isn't how mine is lived.
When the man can even begin to walk the talk his mouth has been spewing then maybe just maybe he can get some of my respect.

Now if I ever met him face to face I would be pleasant and he would go away thinking well that isn't such a bad person.  That doesn't mean he has my respect.

He surrounds himself with like-minded folks so he can focus as a unit, like a football coach. Weiner, you and Aimeey need to get a grip. If you were the leader of the free world and had the MASSIVE task of change hanging over your head, could you handle it for a day? If I was POTUS, I'd take every friday, saturday, sundaY AND monday off. But you know what, the phone would still be ringing off the hook. this is some pretty serious **** the potus has to deal with second by second. THE FUTURE OF AMERICA AND THE WORLD, ER, THE NOT-TO-DISTANT-FUTURE OF AMERICA AND THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR YOU WITH SOME SHOCKS TO YOUR SYSTEM.
