Good analogy. That has Wal Mart written all over it. I am probably one of the few that despise Wal Mart.
I'm not pro wal-mart myself! If they are always the lowest price....Always, as they advertise. Why do they also advertise they will match other store prices? Beware wal-mart is deceptive as well.

I would rather give a local store a bit more than go through the hassle of WM. The few times less I have been there (<5) I haven't even noticed that much of a difference in prices on the items I wanted. There were actually higher prices than were at my neighborhood store on some items. I am the same most of the time with Lowes and Home Depot also, I would rather give my money to Moxham lumber or J&D Fleck, but I do go to them when I have to.

The generic brands are just that, cheap, but who really likes them?
...Thats why IMO they can shove those Save_A_Lots They won't last, even in the West End where the Access Card is king they eat far better than I do, they ain't gonna go for that generic crap....

hmmmm. Isn't that sort of suggesting then that the word "King" in Value King is a subliminal synonym for "Access Card?"

Those colored flag strings all over the parking lot outside the place make it look tacky.

They do that everywhere for grand openings or the like. I hope they take them down shortly after it is over there. Was in today and it is a lot bigger than the Save-A-Lot and Aldi's in Johnstown. The generics are no less than one would find in Giant Eagle or even Wally World. Most of them are made by the same company with different packaging for each individual grocer. The biggest change from BiLo was the removal of the walls where the Rx and deli areas were.

Hey Tiger, are you still down the street?
Well, during the winter months, I will go there.. less of a drive. I still like the G.E. on Goucher.... & I get all my dad's meds from there.

Yes still down the street. See the dog every so often laying in the grass. She is too cute and at times looks like she is lost in it. I will still go to Wally World for iced tea while they are still $1.99 but if it gets close to the price there I will go there or Sheetz. I will also buy it at other local stores depending on need and if I want to give them some business that day. Won't buy gallons at the Bird on Goucher unless they lower the price from $2.99(halves are/were 4/$5.00). I will pay $2.79 at Em's though. I will still shop where I feel like going that day but my meds are at Big Bird as well.
Have a great day and it is nice to have a local store up in the plaza again. The biggest thing though is Eagle only wanted the script records from BiLo and not much else. They did the same thing with No-Mor 8 years ago now. The funny part is that a good number of those locations are now Ollie's.

Wife saw their ad today and said, "these prices aren't that cheap!" I said, "yeah ... that's the buzz around town."

Now if you are a smart shopper, you know the prices from all the local stores, at least that is the way i do it.
Now there produce was cheaper that Giant Eagle & Walmart, But that all depends on what you are getting, as in there cucumbers, .50 each and they where big when i was in there so got those. at Giant Eagle they are like .99 each and look like crap. Walmart's was like .89 each and they are always dinky. So the smart shoppers that are here know what i am talking about.
As for the Giant Eagle on Goucher St. you might never see a GetGo there. As township wants them to put a red light in where you go into the store and Giant Eagle has to pay that cost, and the cost of maintaining it. Which i don't see happening. As i still have contacts to see what was what. As for the store going to Corp. Well that was kept well under raps as i didn't even know about it.
