That reminds me ... I heard once that they spent as much on the Point Stadium renovations as Altoona did on Blair County Ballpark.

Being that there is a sizable difference, does anyone know if that's true?

Heard the same thing.  I do believe that included the renovations they did before the complete demoliton of the Point as well.

Also don't forget that Altoona under the Greenberg ownership group(included Bettis and Lemeiux at one point) did almost all the renovations along the 3rd base/left field area around 2002-2003.    I believe the cost of that was close to $1 million.  BCB was built for $12-13 million back then which all came from the state.  There were also stories that if the Point had been up to MiLB/MLB codes the Curve would of been placed here back in the late 90s.

I heard the same thing ... namely the field dimensions ... but that Johnstown was their first choice.  I think that team moved up from South Carolina ... the Mud something or anothers.  Remember when they talked at one point about making Johns Street one way in one directions and moving the outfied wall out?

Altoona was an expansion team as were the Erie Seawolves back in 1999.  Came into existence when baseball added Arizona and Tampa Bay in 1998.  The Pirates had thier AA affiliate in Zebulon, NC(Carolina Mudcats-BTW still in existence as Cincinnati's AA affiliate in the Southern League).  Coincedentally the Pirates team in the NY-Penn League was in Erie at the time.

Springfield, MA had the other opportunity for a team but they also had stadium issues.  Have to wonder what Wozniak was doing while Jubelier was getting the money for BCB.  Too bad Johnstown never realized what they could of had with either AA baseball or hockey.

He's a baby compared to MMA legend Randy Couture.

I know some of the MMA bouts are short, but they are looking to get 10 in plus 4 boxing matches?  Starts at 7PM?  Forget about hitting Jerry's Lounge after the fights.
