Sort of like this speech Aimeey, spoken by President Bush in an Islamic Center at the end of Ramadan just 15 months after 9/11.

My point isn't to jab at you, just to point out that this is what politicians do.  I'm sure that there were those on the Obama side of the fence who threw the same insults and were just as enraged at President Bush as we are seeing now with President Obama.

This controversy is political hay-making by both sides, IMHO.

Here is another clip that we should also remember as we attack anybody who has anything positive to say or do with Islam.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_ZoroJdVnA&NR=1

If we allow hate to drive us we are no better than those whom we decry.  We are bertter than that.  Our nation and its ideals are better than that.

I donn't see you rpoint, I'm no fan of Bush either and I similarly found him gutless in stating who the enemy was andf for his sucking up to Muslims as well- well, if your point is both Bush and Obama are bad, I agree.

Do you think if Salman Rushdie wanted to open up an art museum right next door to that mosque so he could display drawings and paintings of the prophet Muhammed that his peaceful and tolerant Muslim neighbors would be cool with that?

Great One!!!!!

Isn't that the American way...flatten a country/town, then build it back up for them bigger and better....

I don't know. I wonder how many mosques in Iraq there were that our guys took fire from, but couldn't return due to rules of engagement? I wonder how many there were where insurgents ran into for shelter right after firing on our forces, again without being fired back at or pursued? I wonder how many served as arms stashes and safe houses?

btw, you do realize at who's hands the vast majority of iraqui deaths, both civillian & military were at the hands of, don't you? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't ours.

I wonder how many mosques there are in the US where jihad and great satan are preached? Guess you never saw the hidden camera documentary from inside "mainstream" US mosques, did you?
Course not, because it was on Fox, so it couldn't be true.

You have your wars mixed up, any beef you have for rules of engagement in Iraq belong in the  “One more reason to Hate Bush” thread.

Btw, I would be really happy if 100% of the people killed in Iraq over the past 7 years were killed by Iraqis. I would be really really happy if Zero American soldiers were killed in Iraq over the same time.  Rebuilding Iraq on my tax dollars, including the mosques, rubs me the wrong way.

Well, you know what-- I agree with you, as I've said many times, I'm no fan of Bush's either.
But, why do folks like you just seem to attack Bush and deflect whenever Obama is criticized? This thread is about Obama sucking up to the Muslims and/or completley blowing the NYC mosque issue. Even the left thinks so, well a lot of them. He should have stuck to his guns after the friday speech in "strong" support, then Sat he is backpedaling-- " " i wasn't commenting on the wisdom"
This is classic like " I was for it before I was against it"
That Bush also sucked        up to muslims and screwed up by invading Iraq doesn't mitiagte Obama's shotcomings, but I guess you guys will never get that. Obama's prez now, has been for 2 years. Bush is RETIRED>

There is more than left and right, Aimeey.  There is centrist, moderate.  And centrist has more votes than either left or right.

There is more than Republican and Democrat too but a vote for any of those others is basically meaningless.

Very true.  I care little for either party and was registered with no affiliation for many years until I decided that giving up participation in local office primaries didn't please me.
