I watched the city manager the other night on the news........commenting on the lack of events at the Point Stadium.  She went on to say that it was tough to schedule concerts and the like because it takes too long to convert the stadium back to a baseball field..........and the concerts would interfere with the games at the Point.

Does she mean the AAABA league games that draw a consitant 100 people at most?  Is that the UPJ games that bring in 10 people?  Here is an idea.............maybe you should have thought about the availability before you signed up for all these non profittable baseball games?

For anyone that believes the fallacy that the AAABA brings millions of dollars into the city, consider this:

It's August 3rd.  There are 5 hotels (Holiday Inn Downtown, Econo Lodge Downtown, Comfort Inn, Sleep Inn, and Super Cool that have rooms available from August 8-12th on expedia.com.

But we can't keep the stadium open for Thunder in the Valley.  Keep up the good work.

They are booked a year in advance for Thunder. Maybe they should build a couple hotels up on the hill. Forget that nobody up there likes to heat vroom vroom all night long.

That's not true, either.  I checked in early June and you could still get hotels for Thunder week.

Yeah, they say the same thing about the AAABA.  But call down the Holiday Inn and they can get you right in.  I'm sure they do fill up by the time of the event, but not a year in advance.

There are rooms available right now for Thunder 2011 in town..........and tons in Somerset.

Considering it's almost 9 months away I am not surprised. There are tons of beach houses to rent now for 2011 but take a look in May and see how many are available. 9 months gives you quite a bit of time to turn the PSU residence into B&B and make a nice profit from vroom vroom. The only consequence you will be the blacksheep of the bedroom community.

...Is the AAABA still worth checking out or has it seen it's better days?  I used to plan a return home during the AAABA.  Is it worth it?  I have been back only once since 2001 to see a game.

It has seen its better days.  I'm not sure if Baltimore is even fielding a team this year.
