I wouldn't call it interpreting the Bible. It's his views on religion and government.

That said, I find his views interesting. I don't agree 100%, but he makes a lot of sense.

Case in point: I don't 100% agree with his stance on homosexuality, but I do agree with him that it is not up to the government to legislate if gays can marry or not. If my church or your church wants to regulate that, fine. But the government should not. I honestly don't see how people who say they want government to reduce its influence on their lives can suggest that government legislate marriage, abortion, etc. We can't have it both ways.

I agree with him that so much hatred has been spewed out by so-called "christians" that Christ's message has been obliterated.

His case for a "Jesus Society" is, when you delve deeper, is the same as the former popular expression "What Would Jesus Do?"  The trouble with that saying is, most of the people using that and saying that phrase had no idea what the Master would have done. They used it as an excuse to push their own agendas. Their self-righteous, Pharisaical agendas.

I find his comments refreshing, so clear of dogma, tradition, and self-righteousness, that I wonder if he isn't closer to the Truth than many who proclaim Christ's  name.

Agreed. Any consenting adults who can find a spiritual advisor to sanction their relationship, more power to them. The government should limit it's involvement to legal contracts regarding finances, property, dependents and heirs.

The church is less about Christ and the Gospels, and more about Paul and his letters. Christians are constantly taught the letters of Paul, but few men of the pulpit ever talk about Jesus and the Gospels. I personally don't see much of the Jesus of the Gospels in Pauls letters- rather I see a guy trying in vain to set up a Christian church in Asia minor- and failing miserably at it. All those churchs he wrote letters to were killed off by the Roman Empire, then the Roman Emporer took control of the church and ordered a bible be produced and leather bound so nothing more would then be added as per the Emporer. The bible was then edited in Alexandria Egypt- and that city was soon cast into the sea literally... and it's ruins lie under water in the Med to this day.  Lest we forget, it was the religious know it alls that irritated Jesus the most- and he lost his life for messing with their money- tho the cowards never mentioned it in their perjurous diatribes against Jesus. Just think, what would happen to a man if he rose up from among the people and he didn't appreciate televangelists today- the televangelists would influence public opinion and sanction his muder quietly- thats how they tried to get rid of Jesus , but he had followers who were always around him.
When Jesus comes back he is going to slay the wicked, WELL, WHO IS HE GONNA KILL? CHRISTIANS HAVE A LOT OF BLOOD GUILT ON THEIR HANDS. DIDN'T JESUS SAY TO HIS DISCIPLES TO WATCH BECAUSE THEY KNEW NOT THE HOUR THAT THEIR LORD WILL COME AND CHOP THEM TO PIECES. .... WELL, WE JUST FIGURED OUT WHO JESUS IS GONNA CHOP TO PIECES, DIDN'T WE|

Well if you follow Jesus's own words he is gonna slay all those that didn't take Him as their personnal savior, correct.  Whether they be gay, or a murder, or a rapist.  As my Father always told me, you will see Hitler in Heaven because he was saved by Christ.
