PSU. AKA State Pen

Penn State's 89 percent graduation rate and 85 percent Graduation Success Rate were tops among all teams in the Associated Press' final 2009 Top 25 poll.

The Nittany Lions' four-year Graduation Success Rate of 78 percent is tied for No. 2 among the teams ranked in the Oct. 26 Associated Press Top 25 and easily exceeds the 67 percent Division I average. Penn State is tied for second with North Carolina, with Texas Tech one point ahead.

The Penn State football team earned a graduation rate of 77 percent for the 2001-02 freshmen class, 21 points higher than the national Division I average of 56 percent. The Nittany Lions' four-year graduation average was 75 percent, again easily surpassing the 55 percent national average.

During Paterno's tenure, Penn State has had 36 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans® (27 first team), 15 National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Scholar-Athletes and 18 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship winners. Penn State ranks fourth among all Division I-A institutions in Academic All-America® football honorees.

• The Nittany Lions had 19 Academic All-Big Ten football honorees in 2007, improving their conference-leading total to 209 from 1993-2007

"Rooneys are sufficiently "dismayed" with the situation to cause some in the building to believe that another incident could result in the end of Ben's career in Pittsburgh."

Another one! This one could take him off the field for a year or two. Geez I would loved to been a bug on the wall for that meeting. I betcha Ben got a bigger mouth full than his little college friend did.

Rumor is that one of the Rooney's yelled at him as he left "don't rape anybody on the way out...."

If the Rooney's were truly interested in running a clean organization they would have sent him packing.  They are no different than any other team, winning first, morality second.  Look at their history.......Harrison, Reed, Holmes, Big Ben twice.......all still around.  If you can play, the Steelers will look the other way just like anyone else.

Everybody is "lawyering up"...so to speak.......

I find it interesting that they now refer to the bathroom as 'small, simple, unisex bathroom", whereas before it was the ladies room......

I see no problem at all with the cops having their picture taken with Ben prior to the incident occuring.  I don't get why the writer of the article felt the need to state that no officers have been disciplined as of yet for the pictures.

I'm pretty sure on duty police officers are prohibited from being in bars.  Either way, I think it looks like Barney and Andy are running the show.  I bet Ben walks.

You think there is enough "emphasis" on how many cops were around that night......Everywhere you look there was a cop: in-uniform cops, out-of-uniform cops, on-duty cops, off-duty cops, friends who are cops, PA state cops, Coraopolis cops...........

No wonder #7 wanted to cop a feel..........

Anybody a Steigerwald fan?  Here some of his smack:

John Steigerwald, aka "The Sports Grouch" (seriously, that what he goes by) has apparently started a new blog, called "Just Watch the Game". If his first post is any indication, this may be one to keep an eye on, because I've never heard a media member speak so candidly about Ben Roethlisberger. Witness:

First of all, none of this surprises me. Ben is a bad citizen. He doesn’t know how to treat people and he definitely doesn’t know how to handle being the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In my more than 30 years of working in the Pittsburgh sports media, I have never had any player come close to generating as many unsolicited questions from fans as Roethlisberger has. They want to know why he’s such a jackass. And these aren’t just Steelers fans who got turned down for an autograph. It’s men and women from all walks of life.
OK, that was a pretty brutal start. But wait, there's more...

A couple of years ago I heard from a woman who said that Roethlisberger blew off a Make-A-Wish kid. When KDKA-TVs News Director, John Verrilli, was shown the email, he made it clear that it was a story that his news department would not be pursuing. I eventually got in contact with the parents of the little girl who the jackass snubbed. They said the story was true but they didn’t want to go public with it for their daughter’s sake. The little girl had cystic fibrosis. As I said, Bad citizen who needs a comeuppance.
